KM 82, Perú Inca Trail

We start our great adventure towards the Inca Trail visiting the beautiful Urubamba Valley, one of the main places of Inca agriculture, northeast of Cusco where Machu Picchu is the jewel of the Peruvian jungle, made by the Incas our ingenious ancestors.

The Inca Trail is only a small part of the Inca road system with the vegetation of the nearby jungle and the rugged landscape of Peru that integrates the four regions of the Tawantinsuyo Empire.

Nota: the degree of difficulty is from 1 to 10, where 1 is easy crossing and 10 very difficult.

DAY 1: CUSCO- KM. 82 -WAYLLABAMBA (5 to 6 hours of walking approx Incl. Lunch Time)

We will be picked up from the hotel by the bus at the indicated time, once we are all ready we, we will go to Km. 82, via Chinchero, there, we will go through the controls showing our original and valid passports to start our walk on the banks of the Urubamba River to reach “Llaqtapatao Patallaqta” an important archaeological group, where we will receive an explanation from the guide, then continue to Tarayoc, where we will have lunch and then continue to our first camp in Wayllabamba and dinner in our overnight camp.

DAY 2: WAYLLABAMBA – PACAYMAYU (6 to 7 hours walk approx.)

After an energetic breakfast, we begin our trek with a slightly slow ascent until we reach the first pass (Warmihuañusca) which is at 4,200 m. From this place, you will have spectacular views of the eastern and western chains as well as geographical panoramas of mountains, snow-capped mountains and beautiful semi-tropical jungle valleys, with this wonderful view we will have lunch in the camp outdoors, and at nightfall we will have dinner and overnight in the camp.

DAY 3: pacay mayu – wiñaywayna (7 to 8 hours of walking approx.)

After breakfast, we will start our walk up to the archaeological site of Runkuracay where we will receive an explanation from our guide, then we will continue the journey to Sayaqmarca followed by the exploration of this place; we will have our lunch in Chaquicocha, then we will continue our walk, of course, on the way we can also see how the geography changes from dry and mountainous to a beautiful semi tropical green, after this we will have reached the beautiful eyebrow of the high forest. In this journey you will find an archaeological group of Phuyupatamarca, where we will be able to appreciate the Mountain of Machu Picchu and the village of Aguas Calientes, from this point we will begin to descend at a considerable pace until arriving at the last camp in Wiñaywayna to have our last dinner and overnight in the camp.

DAY 4: wiñaywayna – machupicchu.

On our last day, we will wake up very early to have breakfast, we will start the journey to the Intipunku, which means the sun gate from where we can observe the different and incredible shadows that the sun makes on Machu Picchu and we will also have the first views of this beautiful place. Then we will descend through this magical place full of energy and culture. Upon arrival we, can visit the enclosures, plazas, Sacred Fountains, temples, towers, the agricultural and urban sector, etc. … then we will have time for a free visit and photos, when we finish we will board the return bus to Aguas Calientes and then take the return train to Ollantaytambo station, where we will wait for you to return to Cusco.
