The Mountain of Colors is one of the most majestic attractions in the direction of the AUSANGATE Apu, (beniqunqa – vinicunca in the native language) is located between two provinces of Cusco (Quispicanchis and Canchis).
During our journey along the route of CUSIPATA, we will stop and enjoy a breakfast buffet, with a variety of foods, to recover energy and continue our journey.
At the beginning of our walk we will have the opportunity to appreciate the different varieties of camelids in the area, such as Alpacas, Llamas; we will also be able to see condors in the area.
The Mountain of Colors is characterized by the beautiful views of colors that the landscape gives us, producing a tonality of natural colors provided by the weather at the moment, in times of cloudy weather its colors are dimmer or darker, and on a very sunny day we can appreciate impressive lighter colors and with a striking view.
This tour is organized for passengers who have a good physical condition to make a journey of 1 hour and 20 minutes approximately.
Note: the degrees of difficulty vary from 1 to 10, where 1 is easy crossing and 10 very difficult crossing
Our staff will pick you up at your hotel around 03:30 a.m until 4:00 a.m to head south of the imperial city of Cusco, our trip will be approximately 2 hours to arrive at the restaurant where we will enjoy a delicious breakfast buffet, with a wide variety and selection of snacks to start our journey.
Our guide at all times will be attentive to your needs as well, such as coordinating the times for breakfast and the continuation of our tour.
After breakfast, we will move for about 40 minutes to the starting point of our excursion, at this point our guide will give you the latest instructions and recommendations of the route to the mountain of Vinicunca or Colored Mountain.
The walk from the starting point to the mountain of vinicunca will last approximately 1 hour and 20 minutes until reaching the highest point 5020 meters (meters above sea level), the walk will be at a moderate and calm
During this trip, we will appreciate with great emotion the fauna of this area, such as the llamas and alpacas and the shepherds wearing the typical costumes of the region.
In the journey we can enjoy the beautiful ravines that descend from the snowy peaks of the AUSANGATE, we go to the highest parts almost reaching the top where we can appreciate the snow surrounding this area with a beautiful landscape where the colorful Vinicunca or Colored Mountain chain begins
We will reach the top approximately between 10:30 a.m and 11:00 a.m., where our guide will give you a more detailed explanation about the geographic, orographic zones, as well as the surrounding ecosystem that and gives the colors to the mountain.
After that, we can go to the most beautiful parts of the mountain where we appreciate a unique splendor of colors, as well as take photos next to the mountain of Vinicunca or Colored Mountain.
The guide will tell you how long we can stay in the mountain to follow our way back through the view point of the red valley, known for its red mountains and also considered the Andean desert.
At the view point of the red valley we can give a final look at the mountain of vinicunca from another point of view appreciating the mountains that surround it.
Before our return we will take a short break to recover energies for our descent to the point where the car left us to move to the Llaqto region, where our mobility will be awaiting us to go for a buffet lunch.
After lunch, we will return to the city of Cusco arriving at approximately 5:00 p.m and transfer you to the hotel.
